Working for the Weekend

Sunday.jpg

Well, it is officially Sunday night again and the weekly dread for Monday has started. I think it is a strange phenomenon that almost all of my friends feel a lingering dread once Monday is lurking around the corner. However, when we discuss our jobs it feels like there is nothing to dread. A bunch of happy enough millennials who daydream about travelling instead of heading to the office early tomorrow.

For me, I often feel as if I am working for the weekend. I don’t even need to play Loverboy to sympathize with this feeling. If you must know, I am listening to some old school Hilary Duff (I happened to watch the Lizzie McGuire Movie last night). Every time a new week starts, it feels like another mini countdown to the weekend once again. Are there jobs out there where this feeling does not exist? Maybe someone who has not chosen the 9-5 grind? I think this is one of the reasons why I jampack my weekends with exciting activities. The day to day grind feels a lot less daunting when you know in a short five days, awesomeness awaits.

This weekend, I had a mini vacation mixed in with some needed relaxed time. It started off by heading down to Varberg, Sweden with 7 other ladies. In just one hour, you are outside of the city and five minutes from the ocean. After some tacos (nothing else is acceptable on a Friday night in Sweden), talking, games, and of course, wine, we had a very successful night. We walked around the fortress on Saturday and even made a pitstop to Ullared. For those of you who are not Scandinavia, Ullared is LIFE. Imagine Walmart with things you actually want to buy. I was very frugal this time, but I did manage to score a couple good deals. It’s always a good time for a new purse, right? Saturday and Sunday have blurred together into one cozy ordeal. I did manage to leave the house today to play badminton. Another week where no one wants to play with my friend and me. I guess being the worst duo there has absolutely no benefits. Oh well, practice will hopefully eventually make good enough to play a game against. Here’s to many more weeks of training!

xx
