A 3-Day Road Trip in the Coromandel

As always, I am extremely behind on my blogging. We left Laos 3 weeks ago and our time in New Zealand has gone by way too quickly. Since we were only in New Zealand for 3 weeks, our itinerary ended up being pretty packed. New Zealand really stunned me with its awesome views, so I decided to break this into multiple posts or else it will end up as a turbo load of information.

We arrived at Auckland International Airport on December 12th and spent the first night getting over jetlag, since it is quite a time difference between Laos and New Zealand. Luckily, we slept quite well on the plane, so once we had a well-needed sleep the first night here, we had no problem starting our adventure here out on the right foot. Our 3-day road trip in the Coromandel started from Auckland and on our last night we made our way out to Te Aroha, so we could visit the Hobbiton Movie Set the next day.

What is the Coromandel

The Coromandel is a peninsula that is located about 2 hours from Auckland. It is well known for its hiking trails and good beaches. Some of New Zealand’s coolest natural wonders are found here!

7 Reasons Why You Should Travel to Taiwan

I admit it, although I always listed Taiwan in my head as a place I could visit, it never made it on my “must see on my next trip” list.

But let me back up for a moment…

I can’t believe how fast the time has been flying while on this trip. After leaving the Maluku region, we flew to Jakarta and then Kuala Lumpur for a few days each. It was nice reset to be in the city and have limitless choices on food. Then last Tuesday we flew to Taiwan to meet up with our friends Claire and Joe from Canada. We only managed to visit Taipei and Kenting since our trip was quite short.

Taiwan has always been a country that I have been interested in visiting. However, it never sparked me enough to be on my immediate “must visit” list. Since our friends were travelling for only 1 week, it was logical for us to fly to them. It provided a great opportunity to see a new country, and this country actually ended up being the 30th country that I have visited!

Of course, while visiting my 30th country, I also had to visit the 10th tallest building in the world, Taipei 101

How to Afford to Travel

Hey,

Most people that travel have developed a life passion for it. Once you catch the “travel bug”, it is hard to not spend your free time thinking about your next vacation destination. There is one glaring disadvantage when one decided to travel as much as possible, and that is the fact that it is hard on the bank account. Travelling is expensive. Even if someone is a budget traveller, it is still expensive to purchase flights and hostels. Some people grew up taking many family trips around the globe, but I did not experience this luxury as a child. It could possibly be why I enjoy intercontinental travel so much. However, it is possible to travel or live abroad (especially if you are young!) without going extremely in debt. So, here are some ideas on how you can also afford this luxury.

1. Be a Teacher

This was a huge factor why I chose to be a teacher. Of course, it is important that you also have a passion to educate others. However, being a teacher in Canada is really worth it since you get 12 weeks of vacation every year. Many other jobs offer only 2-4 weeks of vacation so it is rare to find a job with so much opportunity to take holidays. Although, you are working a lot throughout the year so it is harder to take vacations in the off-season. Also, when you are travelling, so is everyone else, so you often are visiting countries during their high season. Being a teacher in Sweden is less enticing since Swedes get so many vacation days already. More on that later!
